Ceramic onlays are used in cosmetic dentistry.
What is it?
A ceramic onlay is a ceramic shell placed on the front of a tooth to replace part of its natural enamel.
Why is it used?
Ceramic onlays are used on front teeth which suffer from discolouration or have too many old fillings to allow for a good cosmetic result to be achieved with composite fillings.
What is the risk?
If attached incorrectly, the ceramic onlay may fall off.
