A removable partial denture are still worn by many elderly people.

What is it?

A removable partial denture is a replacement for one or more teeth which is mounted onto a clasp made from acrylic, steel or both.

The removable partial denture is attached to neighbouring teeth with small hooks, and is therefore easily removable.

Why is it used?

Removable partial denture are used to replace missing teeth for cosmetic or functional reasons.

What are the risks?

Patients with removable partial denture are more likely to develop cavities, as the denture easily collect bacteria.

A removable partial denture also risk fitting poorly and becoming loose.
