Cavity liners are often used when placing fillings.

What is it?
A cavity liner is a thin layer of material – typically glass ionomer – which is placed under a composite or amalgam filling.
Why is it used?
Cavity liners lower the risk and severity of symptoms after fillings are fitted.
What is the risk?
If used incorrectly, a cavity liner can weaken the link between the tooth and the filling.
