Fluoride treatment is often used on children.
What is it?
Fluoride treatment consists of applying a fluoride-rich product to the teeth.
Why is it used?
Fluoride treatments are mostly used to treat cavities which do not yet require drilling.
In some cases, fluoride treatment is used to reduce sensitivity in areas of a tooth which have been subjected to unnatural wear – and also in cases of general over-sensitivity.
What is the risk?
If an overdose is given, dental fluorosis may occur in children.
